After braving the America Australia Association panel, which included two former chief scientists of Australia, I have been awarded an American Australian Fellowship to continue my postdoctoral work at Duke. The fellowship is generously sponsored by theĀ Alcoa Foundation. You can read about my fellow fellows here.
Memorably, I met the panel after traveling more than 24hrs from Boston. I didn’t even have time to shower before being ushered into the 17th floor boardroom of the Melbourne PWC building. The interview itself is mostly a blur but I do remember the final question posed to me, which I felt was just a little outside my area of expertise: “How do we get China on-board with climate change initiatives?”. At least they didn’t ask me to solve world peace.
The actual award was presented on November 4th 2013 in New York at an amazing Black tie benefit dinner that raised 1.6 million dollars for the Association to continue to fund great research. Well done!
