This week I travelled to my first meeting of the Australia & New Zealand Marketing Academy, which was being held in Brisbane and hosted by Griffith University.
As noted in the conference program, I was fortunate to give two talks:
1. “Judgment and Decision-making in Word of Mouth Communication” in the track enigmatically called “Consumer Behaviour – Other”.
2. “Aggregating Potential Collective Action as a Marketing Tool” in the track called “Social Marketing – Consumer Insights”.
I’ve found a lot of people in my specific area of research to be absent, which has made the trip a little less beneficial from a feedback perspective. On the other hand, I’ve had much more exposure to non-experimental research methods on core marketing topics, which has been beneficial.
While in Brisbane, I was also fortunate enough to make my way into a separate event where I got to see an interview discussion with the famous evolutionary biologist and writer, Richard Dawkins. Despite being 73 years old, Dawkins remains a terrifically articulate man and stalwart in belief. Definitely the highlight of the trip!
The Brisbane South Bank region is also very beautiful to walk through. Highly recommended.
